Current Issues in Physics: TedTalk: The power of vulnerability - Brené Brown
Time: 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Place: Chamberlin 5310 or over Zoom
Abstract: Brené Brown studies human connection -- our ability to empathize, belong, love. In a poignant, funny talk at TEDxHouston, she shares a deep insight from her research, one that sent her on a personal quest to know herself as well as to understand humanity. This video is an opportunity for discussion on the way that each of us experiences shame or discomfort in equity work.

Network in Neutrinos, Nuclear Astrophysics, and Symmetries (N3AS) Seminar
High-Energy Neutrinos: A New Trail Towards New Physics
Time: 12:00 pm
Place: Meeting ID: 989 8774 9464 Passcode: 986897
Speaker: Carlos Arguelles Delgado , Harvard University
Abstract: The observation of high-energy astrophysical neutrinos by the IceCube Neutrino Observatory has opened up a new window to the universe. These neutrinos traverse the longest distances from their sources and have the largest energy ever observed. These neutrinos open a new trail to search for new physics that covers parameter space not accessible to terrestrial neutrino experiments. In this Seminar, I will explain the inner workings of the IceCube neutrino observatory, discuss the latest measurements of high-energy astrophysical neutrinos, and provide examples of new physics searches with these neutrinos.

Topic: N3AS Online Seminar Series - Fall 2024 #6
Time: Nov 26, 2024, 12:00 PM Pacific Time (US and Canada)
NOTE: All participants and hosts are now required to sign into a Zoom account prior to joining meetings hosted by UC Berkeley.
